That’s a wrap!!! For today anyways.

What a big and wonderful day! I’m so happy with how our first working bee back in the garden went. We had an amazing crew of helpers, we had some amazing food from our friends at @portbeirut2505 and I think we will all get some amazing sleep tonight.

@nick.mcn is on the night shift hosting his men’s circle in the garden for the very first time this evening. So many beautiful visions for this space shared over food today.

But for now I’m going to bed with a happy heart at the spark of magic we reignited today. Will post more to @the_garden_at_north_gong page tomorrow.

In home newborn sessions are just so incredibly precious and oh boy do I have a lot of them coming up, so if you aren’t up for all the baby content, you might want to tune out for a while.

I love these sessions because they capture one of the most intense, beautiful, challenging, tender, raw and yet fleeting times in most people’s lives.

I say my newborn sessions are documentary style but the truth is they are more what photographers call “lifestyle” photography which is the sweet spot between highly posed (not very real life) looking images and strict documentary style.

So while I aim to capture this time as close to how it actually is, I choose a location in the house that has the best light and I lead families through a process whereby we get a nice assortment of images that best reflect the most precious aspects of this time of life.

The posing is completely baby led which means Mumma can feel at ease knowing whatever she needs to do to support this precious new soul, fits in perfectly with what we are doing in these sessions.

I love the depth in this first image because we get to feel the moment of connection between Papa Bear D, big sister Bobbi and baby bird.

Then baby is straight back in the arms of beautiful Mumma Bear @peppi.bartsch as soon as she needs to be.

I know my creative entrepreneurs will feel me on t

I know my creative entrepreneurs will feel me on this... especially those navigating all the creative desires alongside Motherhood.

I have soooooo many creative impulses, I always have and one of the hardest lessons in life for me is that old adage “you can do anything but you can’t do everything”. Never has this been more true for me than it is right now as I surrender completely to the role of mother and home maker.

It makes it sound like I am sacrificing and five years ago learning this lesson in new motherhood, it felt like I was. Now, 6 years on the truth is, if I get really honest with myself about what I truly value in life. I’m at peace with this.

Not because having children means you should give up your creative aspirations & passions. Let me be clear - it is the opposite.

As parents it is absolutely imperative we follow our creative flickers, honour our aspirations and chase out dreams.

Our children are watching.

But our energy is precious and both our literal babies and our creative babies require and deserve nothing less than our honed and focused love and attention.

Recently I started playing with making short videos and LOVED this outlet, I said I would release one every month. I now see it’s not for this time... and for now, I let that thread go to pursue what is truly lighting me up.

Because that’s what I want my kids to see...

I think of all the creative projects i have ruminating, some I started, all worthy, I remind myself that I can do anything but I can’t do everything.

And now more than ever I’m at peace with continually simplifying the stream of my creative flow in order to increase its potency, both in the way it nourishes myself, my family and those around me.
